Ask the Chiropractor: I heard that you use Bio-Geometric Integration? What is it and how does it benefit me?

Yes, as a matter of fact, at Chiropractic Family Wellness Center we do use a method called Bio-Geometric Integration. But before explaining Bio-Geometric Integration, it is important that you know what a subluxation is. The best way to define a subluxation is that it is the interference of the best expression of your system resulting from physical, biochemical, or psychological distress. The intention of chiropractors is to use chiropractic adjustments to release these interferences in order to allow the optimal expression of your body’s innate intelligence and therefore promote total wellness in your mind and body.

“Dr. Sue Brown, D.C., discovered and developed the method known as Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI), which is an integrative approach to the science, philosophy, and art of chiropractic”[1]. BGI provides chiropractors with a deeper and fuller understanding of the body’s innate geometry and connectivity, enabling us to more effectively release subluxations and assess the effectiveness of each and every adjustment.

Traditionally in chiropractic the subluxation is seen only in terms of a compression or stretching on the nerves and spinal cord by a misaligned vertebra. However, BGI adds to that understanding to incorporate not only the spine and nervous system, but also the body’s muscles, ligaments, organs, glands and entire energetic system. Looking at chiropractic through the lens of energetics is extremely important, because quantum physics has taught human that all matter is, in actuality, comprised of energy.[2]

An occasional subluxation may not be noticeable, but when they begin to collect and go untreated, dis-ease is often the result. Chiropractic adjustments, especially low-force adjustments, which is the kind we do at CFWC, allow the energy from a subluxation to be released and fully integrated into the body. BGI enables us as chiropractors to use knowledge of the body’s innate geometry to truly assess the full effect of a subluxation, allowing it to be released as an integrated whole. As your chiropractor we want to see you truly well and creating health for life. We believe, and have seen, that using Bio-Geometric Integration as our method of chiropractic at Chiropractic Family Wellness Center in Scarborough, Maine makes true healing and wellness possible.
